Most writing tools want to fix your prose for you. Writer's Diagnostic doesn't. It reads your work and reports what it finds: how long your sentences run, where words repeat, how your dialogue is tagged, how your pacing rises and falls. It never suggests a rewrite or touches a word. What you do with the results is up to you.
There's no AI inside. Every check is built from rules, counts and pattern matching, the same kinds of measurements editors have relied on for decades. Nothing is guessed, so every result can be explained.
It's made for fiction and nonfiction writers at any level, from first drafts to final polish. It's a one-time purchase with no subscription, and it's being built so your writing is never stored.
What it checks
- Readability and rhythm: reading grade level, sentence length and variety, paragraph variation, and pacing across paragraphs and chapters.
- Word habits: repeated and overused words, echoes (phrases that come back too soon), adverbs, passive voice, glue words and clichés.
- Dialogue and the senses: where dialogue appears, how it's tagged, and how much sensory language you use.
- Genre matching: choose a genre and see how your manuscript measures up against its conventions, with a clear check or cross for each criterion and a short explanation.
- The basics: word, sentence and paragraph counts, estimated reading time, a vocabulary inventory and a list of acronyms.
